RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) - The son-in-law of Rev. Billy Graham died Wednesday after he was found unresponsive in a pool at his home in Wake County on Monday afternoon, according to an online post by his wife.

The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. at a home in the 5900 block of Ponderosa Road, said Capt. Stevens with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. The home is owned by Daniel and Anne Lotz, according to Wake County property records.

Anne Graham Lotz is a daughter of the Rev. Billy Graham and founded Angel Ministries in Raleigh.

She discovered her husband, Dr. Daniel “Danny” Lotz unresponsive in the pool at their home, she wrote on Facebook Monday night.

On Tuesday morning, she posted on Facebook that Danny Lotz remains in intensive care. Late Tuesday afternoon, Lotz posted, “Danny is holding his own. The next twenty-four hours are critical and should give us some answers.”

At 3 p.m. Wednesday, Anne Graham Lotz wrote: “Danny Lotz: God’s Gladiator. March 30, 1937 – August 19, 2015”

"He moved to our Father’s House on August 19, 2015 and received the accolade of his Savior, Lord, and King who presented him with the Crown of Righteousness," she wrote. "We salute you, Danny Lotz. And we will never forget you."

Dr. Lotz was a former dentist in the Raleigh area and a UNC-Chapel Hill basketball player who was on the 1957 team that won the NCAA championship.
