BLOG: Little League World Series softball rundown impressive

ROWAN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

I was watching the Rowan County Little League World Series softball team playing in the semifinals out in Portland, Oregon and have to admit I was pretty impressed.

I was shocked mostly with the way the young ladies handled a couple of defensive situations with perfect fundamentals that would make some Major League Baseball players a little jealous.

Rowan County hit their cut-off perfectly after a single to right field  which allowed them to tag out the base runner who over-ran second base.

The other team from Texas was not too shabby either. They put on a perfect relay on a shot to deep right center to cut down the trail runner at the plate.

And then they executed a perfect rundown play to keep another run from scoring from third.

These 11 and 12-year-old ladies made me smile because it’s fun to see the game played the right way with no other motive than enjoying the sport itself!
