It’s day 29, folks. Which means another 30 day challenge for #TeamNOSugar is almost in the bag! So – how did YOU do?
If you’re like me – this has been a GREAT round for you. I’m down another nine pounds and have lost some serious inches off my arms, waist and bust. Considering I’ve been on this journey since January of 2013, this is HUGE for me!!
But it’s the non-scale milestones that I’m proud of the most. For instance, being able to wear white this past weekend for my bachelorette festivities. May not sound like a big thing, but white has always been a color I’ve stayed away from because it’s not slimming the way black or other dark colors are. So, to be in white from head-to-toe AND to know that I was comfortable was absolutely thrilling!
I’ve also noticed how much stronger I’ve gotten in my workouts. Circuits that once had me in the fetal position, breathing like a dragon – I can now do with ease.
Plus – I can see serious definition in my arms and shoulders now. So not only do I feel stronger but I can see the proof of that strength!!
So from battling with the ropes to 1000 reps (yes, you’re reading that right!) during sessions with my trainer to doing planks while balancing on two Bosu balls, I’m the strongest and healthiest I’ve been in YEARS.
Looking back at old photos, I look better - and younger- now at a newly minted 35 than I did in my mid-20s! Who says you can’t turn back the clock?!
As I’ve said in the past, the scale is not the ONLY measure of success! That’s so important to remember – especially if this isn’t your first go-round on #TeamNoSugar. Celebrate every milestone, every stride made – especially the non-scale victories! They count just as much - if not more so!
Which brings me to my next point. For those of you saying, ‘hey, I did this for 30 days and the scale barely moved.’ Everyone is different so don’t take the success I’ve seen (or anyone else for that matter) to mean a failure on your part.
You got through the 30 days, right? That’s big all by itself!
Plus, how do you FEEL? Do you have more energy? Are you sleeping better?
Have you noticed you don’t need that mid-afternoon trip to the vending machine to survive the way you once thought you did?
Are your clothes looser? Have you gotten into a pair of jeans, dress, etc that maybe was a little too tight before?
If you can answer yes to even just ONE of these questions – then the past 30 days have been a success!!
Y’all know I’m always on #TeamNoSugar – I just give myself cheat meals and/or days from time-to-time. But, if this isn’t going to be a lifestyle change for you – then hopefully the past (almost) 30 days have shown you that it CAN be done.
You don’t need processed sugars every, single day with every, single meal! So continue to make good choices and don’t go too crazy going back to sugar!
The re-entry can’t be a little bumpy and it may not taste as good as you remember. Plus, your tummy will definitely let you know if it’s not all good, and well, I’ll just leave it at that!
