CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - I've got some "sweet" news!
"Icing Smiles" is a charity that connects volunteer bakers with sick children. It can be a professional baker or someone who's non-licensed -- (you?) -- who just wants to help.
The baker makes the child a cake.
In researching Icing Smiles, I realized they've already helped multiple #MollysKids.
All bakers are called "Sugar Angels". Anybody can apply here.
The North Carolina chapter is still growing. I just got off the phone with the woman who runs it, Tracey, and she said they need bakers in our area.
AND… this is the extra sweet part: Icing Smiles is working with #MollysKids for Pediatric Cancer Awareness (ACTION) Month!
That means the amazing kids I write and post about in September, kids who are battling, will get a cake if they want one, personalized with their favorite things.
All just for fun.
Pretty cool, huh? I love this.
If you apply now to become a "Sugar Angel", maybe you'll end up making a cake for one of the kids you'll read about here in September.
Editor's note: This is about one of #MollysKids, children WBTV Anchor Molly Grantham follows closely on her Facebook page. It was first published there – which is why it's written in a personal way. For years Molly has followed hundreds of kids with uphill medical battles. During Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month in September, she features one a day. Thirty total. Find this story and updates on all #MollysKids here.
