WBTV Speak Out Editorial: St. Jude - Battling Childhood Cancer

“Speak Out” is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by editorial board member, Jess Sessoms.

As despicable as cancer is when it hits our adult friends and family members, it’s even more devastating when it touches the life of a child.

Medical centers in our town and across the nation are doing all they can to treat these young patients or, even better, to find a cure.

But there’s a place in Memphis that’s really at the forefront of this ongoing battle – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

St. Jude’s staff devotes itself to the care and treatment of children with cancer and other deadly diseases.

Their overall childhood cancer survival rate has climbed from 20 to 80 percent in the last 50 years.

Most importantly, St. Jude patient families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food.

Now YOU can help with this most worthwhile of causes…and as a bonus, you could win a brand new house!

WBTV is helping sponsor the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.

An elegant new, built-from-scratch home in the Red Bridge community of Cabarrus County could be yours.

Tickets are just $100, and only a limited number will be sold. So your odds are pretty good.

To reserve YOUR tickets, visit Dream Home dot org, or call 1-800-592-1602.

You COULD win a dream home…you WILL make a difference in the lives of children with cancer.

Tell us what you think, SpeakOut@wbtv.com.
