Nothing is more frustrating than already running late, and not being able to get where you’re going because your car won’t start. It could be that your battery is to blame! A bad battery can be expensive to replace so it’s necessary to maintain it!

Have you ever thought about how crucial your car battery is to your vehicle? Without a properly working battery, your vehicle wouldn’t be able to run- or even start! This important auto part creates a chemical reaction that delivers voltage to your car’s starter, which starts your engine and keeps it running! This box of electricity is an important Charlotte auto part that should be well taken care of!

Maintain your car battery with these tips!

Typically, your average battery lasts about 3 to 5 years, but if you maintain it well enough it could last you for longer! We’re sharing five easy tips on how to maintain your car battery in Charlotte!

  • Routinely check the water level in your battery! Remove the fill caps and take a peek inside to see how full or low the water level is. Fill with distilled water up to the designated level for a more efficient voltage! If your battery is missing fill caps, then you don’t have a battery made like this!
  • Inspect the insulator! The battery insulator is designed to protect it from high temperatures. Frequently check it to make sure it is still intact and free of damages!
  • Scrub the terminals with a wire brush and a baking soda/water paste. First, carefully remove the connectors. Clean thoroughly with the wire brush and paste to remove all old acid build-up and collecting corrosion. Don’t forget to reconnect the connectors! (Consider using a rubber mallet to ensure they are back on tight!)
  • Apply white lithium grease to the already cleaned terminals of your Charlotte car battery to prevent corrosion and rust! A good coat of grease creates a seal between the terminal and connectors that prevents oxidation.
  • Don’t forget to have the voltage tested when you visit our Toyota Service Center in Charlotte for routine car maintenance. It’s important to know how much juice is left in your battery so it doesn’t leave you stuck at home or stranded on the side of the road!
