CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Dry air arrives for today and through the weekend, pushing any chance of rain to near zero for the entire period. It will also be much less humid and feel more refreshing as dew points crash from the 70s to the 50s.
High temperatures will still manage the low 90s, but it will feel much more comfortable with the lower humidity.
Chances for much needed rain stay slim through early next week, as the heat gradually creeps upward again towards the mid 90s by next Monday and Tuesday.
For the first time since 2013, some of our counties are in a Severe Drought condition.
They are Cleveland, Lincoln and Gaston counties. At the Charlotte airport we are running nearly six inches below normal for the year with no relief in sight.
There are two worse categories than 'Severe'. They 'Exceptional Drought' and 'Extreme Drought'. Let's hope we don't get to that point.
Have a great Friday!
