11-year-old Charlotte racer gives winnings to charity

Local racer donates winnings to charity

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Daniel Wilk started racing when he was six and a half years old. He's now eleven and currently undefeated in the Bojangles' Summer Shootout Bandolero Bandits Division. He was going for his eighth win in a row Tuesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Daniel's clearly already a leader on the track, but even more important - he's a leader off it.

Each week a $100 Bojangles' gift card is awarded to the race winner, which means Daniel had $700 in earnings. He felt sharing his winnings with others would be more rewarding than keeping it for himself.

Daniel chose to donate Bojangles' meals to The Relatives Youth Crisis Center and On Ramp Resource Center, two Charlotte-area organizations committed to serving youth and families in need.

Daniel credits his thoughtful act to the way he was raised and plans to continue to donate his winnings.
