Crimestoppers: CMPD looks for man who snaps upskirt photo

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A creepy criminal snapped an upskirt picture of a woman at a local clothing store.

The surveillance video of this unsettling incident shows a typical Sunday afternoon at the Burlington Coat Factory on Independence Boulevard.  After shopping, two sisters are seen leaving the store through the double glass doors.

Into camera range appears a man who's watching those women. He pulls out his camera phone, hikes up his droopy shorts and follows the women as they exit.

When one of the sisters holds the door open for him, he bends down and snaps a picture from under her skirt.

"A black male was coming behind them so they thought nothing of it," said Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Tori Roddey. "Then all of a sudden, she feels something touching her leg. She looks down and this guy is taking a picture under her skirt."

It happened so quickly, the victim was rendered speechless.

"She didn't say anything," Officer Roddey said. "She probably was in shock."

Not until the two women got to their car did they decided to do something.

"The victim was with her sister and then her sister convinced her, hey, we need to let somebody know, so they went back in the store to report it," Roddey said.

In the surveillance video, we can see this man in the store for 14 minutes before the crime. He was spotted walking aimlessly around.

"This guy never picked up an item," Roddey said. "He wandered around a little bit to the children's department, the women's department, but nothing as if he was actively going to purchase something."

The man is about 5'7" tall. He's balding with a beard and wearing a number "33" sleeveless jersey with dark, droopy shorts.

It's possible he might try to sell the picture, but it's more likely he did it for his own prurient interests.

If you can help police take this pervert off the street, call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Crime doesn't pay, but Crime Stoppers does.
