Triple-digit heat back in forecast, rain chances remain spotty

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Triple-digit heat is back in the forecast for today. If we hit 100, this will eclipse the old record of 98 set back in 1988.

Today would be the 11th straight day of 95 degree heat or hotter, ouch!! And summer just officially began Sunday. Monday's high hit 100 for the second time.

The heat goes on through much of the coming week. We will be in the upper 90s - close to 100 through mid week and still well into the 90s by Friday. Rain chances will remain spotty for the next few days.

We may finally see some changes by the weekend. With a front moving through, highs look to scale back to the 80s by the weekend and rain chances will range from 40-50 percent each day through Monday.

Have a great day!
