Today, the Carolina Panthers wrapped up mini camp which means only 42 days until the team reports to Wofford for training camp.
The light at the end of the tunnel is not the blazing hot sun, it's the start of football folks and I for one can't wait.
There are so many reasons to be excited if you are a Panthers fan. Let's take a look at a few.
The Panthers 1st practice at training camp will be July 31st at 6:30 pm. Training camp will include a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on August 19th and 20th in Spartanburg. The 2 teams will then play their pre season game at Bank of America Stadium on August 22nd.
Coming off back to back NFC South titles, some Panthers vets are calling these past OTA and mini camp "the best ever" during their time with the team.
There is no doubt that the Panthers are further along this year than they were last season. Some of the positions of question including wide receiver, offensive line, and defensive secondary are no longer big questions.
But the biggest reason for excitement for fans is the health of quarterback Cam Newton. No issues with the ankle that he had surgery on last off season. No issues with the rib injury that he sustained in the pre season of last year. No issues with the back that he injured in a car accident that he had in December of last season. Bottom line, he is healthy! Now his focus is on improving on his accuracy and consistency with improved foot work.
Even though Carolina now has 5 weeks of a "summer break" before training camp, some will stay in Charlotte and continue to train. It is believed that Cam Newton and most of the skilled position guys will get together for some on field work to get timing down in the passing game.
This team certainly feels it is close to something big and are focused on making the most of this opportunity.
So Panthers fans, are you excited about the upcoming 2015 season?
