CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A large man and blond woman are the subject of a police BOLO (Be On The Lookout) after they robbed the Greenleafe Inn at gunpoint.
Surveillance video shows the duo approach the office door from Monroe Road. Inside, the office clerk is relaxing. He has to get up to let this couple in.
"He says, 'you want to get a room?' And they say, 'yes.'" Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police (CMPD) Officer Roddey explains. "He turns around starts walking to the cash register and the male suspect takes a gun out and puts it up to his head."
At 6'1", the clerk is not a small man. But the robber is surprisingly large.
"The employee said the guy hovered over him, so he's about 6'5". And you can see both the male and female suspect had on shades."
Along with the sunglasses, the female crook was also wearing a recognizable work shirt from a McDonald's restaurant. When the clerk produces a cash box, she pockets all the money.
She also notices what was initially overlooked - the clerk is packing heat. He has a holstered gun on his belt. She tells her accomplice, who then forcibly takes the clerk's gun and his cell phone.
She steps outside to see if the coast is clear. It is. So they both leave, running up the sidewalk toward Monroe Road.
Officer Roddey says there haven't been any reports of these two people committing any other crimes in the area, so it makes him wonder if they may be out-of-towners just passing through.
"It's the first thing I thought, but you never know, they might be locals."
If they are locals, there's a good chance someone knows them.
Call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 if you can help police catch them. Crime doesn't pay. Crime Stoppers does.
