Residents, baby rescued after car slams into east CLT building; LIVE updates on WBTV

Five residents, including several small children and a baby, were rescued from an east Charlotte apartment after a car slammed into a laundry mat below it. The accident happened just before 3 a.m. on Farm Pond Lane. 

The driver was taken to the hospital but is believed to be OK, officials say. Police are investigating what may have caused the driver to drive into the building. WBTV's Ashton Pellom has been LIVE on the scene all morning and will have updates as they come in.

There are still unanswered questions this morning about a missing woman who was said to be pregnant. The Salisbury woman went missing nearly a week ago. Carrie Bradshaw Crowther was found yesterday in Boone and taken to Watauga Medical Center.
