SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Design plans for a new apartment complex in Salisbury will need to change after an expected find near the build site.
A surveyor found a cemetery behind thick vegetation where the Civic Park Apartments are being built along Brenner Avenue. It has about a dozen tomb stones that date back to the late 1800's and early 1900's.
The housing authority asked a Salisbury historian to try to track living relatives of those buried.
"Traced some of the folks to even moving to Baltimore in the early 1900's, but as far as we can find out there's no ancestor of any of these folks in the Salisbury area or any area that we can find," Sam Foust told WBTV.
