I'm sitting here at my desk at WBTV News in the newsroom with my headphones on listening to live coverage of the Wells Fargo Championship. It's always an exciting week in Charlotte with some of the best golfers in the world.
Usually it stands alone but this year due to a schedule change it's not the only event in town which shows how much the sporting world in the Queen City has changed since I arrived back in 1989.
Now there's a plethora of things to do sports wise in the city and this week is one of the best options for sports fans in the area ever. Not only can you choose to attend golf today through Sunday and possibly catch World Number One Rory McIlroy, you can also go to the regularly schedule All Star racing events at Charlotte Motor Speedway Friday and Saturday.
Or you can go with baseball at beautiful BB&T Ballpark where the Knights are playing all weekend long with great crowds because they are leading minor league baseball in attendance for the second year in a row.
Or you can go to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Aquatic Center and catch Olympic Swimmers like Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte compete in the Grand Prix series this weekend.
Or you can go Time Warner Cable Arena to catch the Hornets in the Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series. Oh that's right they're not in the playoffs this season. But wouldn't that be crazy next year?!?
Sports fans enjoy!!!
