CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Fans will finally get to see the world's best in action Wednesday at Quail Hollow Club. The Pro-Am officially started at 7:30 a.m.
Phil Mickelson was in the first group to take the tee, top-ranked Rory McIlroy does not tee off until 2:03 p.m.
While the main event is still a day away, Wednesday offers fans the chance to take pictures of the players in action. Cameras are allowed.
Starting Thursday, no pictures are allowed.
Fortunately for fans, the weather has cooperated this week. However, course officials are warning patrons to observe the leader boards throughout the golf course for "Weather Warning" signs that will appear prior to inclement weather. When the sign appears, take precautions prior to play being suspended.
If the siren sounds, seek shelter immediately. Spectators are asked to avoid open areas, hilltops and/or high places, isolated trees, golf carts, and wire fences, officials said.
The Wells Fargo Championship has again brought the world's best golfers to Charlotte. McIlroy won the Wells Fargo in 2010 and is obviously hoping to add another win this year. For Mickelson, this is his twelfth consecutive appearance. After last year's opening round, Mickelson said Quail Hollow Club was one of his favorite courses to play.
