South Rowan High School on Code Yellow lockdown

LANDIS, NC (WBTV) - South Rowan High School is under a Code Yellow precautionary lock down, according to Rowan-Salisbury Schools spokesperson Rita Foil.

A Connect Ed message went out to parents from the Principal Kelly Withers advising parents of the lockdown.

Code Yellow means that:

· All doors to the school building are locked and secured

· Students do not leave the building and there are no outside activities

· Class continues as usual

· Parents can enter, but doors remain locked after they enter or leave the building

"We will continue to work with law enforcement following their advisement," Foil wrote in an email to WBTV.

"The safety of our students is a top priority and we will continue to take all necessary measures in assuring that our school remains a safe environment for all our students and staff."

Sources not connected with school administration told WBTV that there had been rumors of a possible fight that was to take place on campus, based on an off campus incident that occurred Wednesday night.

Foil said that the lockdown was put in place strictly as a precaution and based on the advice of law enforcement.
