Discount Day for teachers at Food Lion coming on Tuesday

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Food Lion is celebrating teachers in its home market by offering teachers a 5 percent discount on their total purchase in over 140 Charlotte, N.C., area stores on Teacher Appreciation Day, Tuesday, May 5, according to a press release provided to WBTV.

"Every day, our teachers in Charlotte and the surrounding communities invest in our students' learning and growth," said Dave Bass, Division Vice President for Food Lion's Central Division, which includes the Charlotte area. "This is Food Lion's way of investing back in our teachers as we celebrate them this Teacher Appreciation Day and show our support for the work they do every day to educate our future neighbors, associates and community leaders."

A full list of participating stores is available here. To receive the discount, teachers need to simply show a teacher ID at checkout.

This offer is valid on Tuesday, May 5, only. The discount does not apply to the purchase of alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, lottery, postage stamps or services.

"Food Lion is proud to partner with local teachers and schools in the Charlotte area and all the communities it serves throughout the year," according to the statement.

"The grocer regularly hosts Food Lion Feeds Family Math Nights in its stores to help educate students and their families about how to make healthy choices in the grocery stores, on any budget, and engages in numerous donations at schools to provide fresh produce and other healthy items to students and their families struggling with hunger," the statement continued.
