NCDOT: Webb Road opening likely to be delayed

N.C. Department of Transportation contractors have requested a delay in opening Webb Road as they complete the installation of a temporary railroad crossing south of Salisbury.

Workers closed a portion of Webb Road near the U.S. 29 and South Main Street intersection in March.

Due to weather delays and contractor scheduling changes the road is expected to reopen no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, June 15.

The construction is a part of the Piedmont Improvement Program, which is NCDOT's largest and most significant rail program encompassing a series of projects along the North Carolina Railroad Corridor.

During the closure, motorists should use the 3.7 mile signed detour route along Webb Road, I-85 North, Peeler Road and South Main Street.
