The definition of hero means something different to all of us. Dictionary.com's second definition is one I think is totally appropriate for this new series, "Mo's Heroes". "…a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal.."
What jumps out to me, 'in the opinion of others'.
Most people who are true heroes would never describe themselves that way. It's really up to us to recognize their acts of heroism…large or small.
That's why I'm letting you tell me who your heroes are! Since I posted the video to my Facebook page, I have been inundated with direct messages on my Facebook page from so many of you and almost every story has given me goose bumps.
I'm learning quickly, simple acts of kindness, are not rare. Goodness is all around us. We just have to take the time to stop and acknowledge those who make this world a better place.
This series is meant to inspire all of us to go that extra step. Next time you see someone struggling with a cart in the parking lot, or juggling too many bags walking into work, maybe this will make you stop…think…and offer a helping hand.
None of us are perfect. And I'm not expecting "Mo's Heroes" to be perfect people. But their acts of kindness, or generosity, are going to be noticed!
But remember it takes YOU telling me the stories. Send me a direct message on my Facebook page. I'll get their stories written as quickly as possible and then posted online.
If you can attach a picture of your hero in your direct message on Facebook, that would be perfect! Thank you so much for being a part of something sure to make us all smile!
