CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A 17-year-old is facing charges in an assault and robbery that happened at a Charlotte dry cleaner last week, according to officials.

Won Yun, the owner of Ritz Cleaners on Albermarle Road, remains in the hospital after being attacked. Family members say Yun is slowly recovering and is in stable condition after suffering a subdurmal hematoma.

Friday customers showed up at the dry cleaners concerned for Yun's recovery.

"We just asked about him. They said he's doing better, and he hopes to be back maybe Monday," said Bridget Battle. "It's so sad that when you're trying to run your business and make an honest living, that people would just come and take advantage of you like that."

Josiah Jn-Marie was arrested in the parking lot at East Mecklenburg High School nearly a week after the business owner was assaulted and robbed of his vehicle.

Around 2 p.m. Friday, April 17, Yun was found unconscious in the Ritz Cleaners' parking lot by a female employee. Police, fire and medical officials arrived and took him to Carolinas Medical Center with serious head trauma injuries.

The female employee, who can't speak on camera because of the ongoing investigation, told WBTV that she was looking for Yun to help her with a transaction.

When she couldn't find him she went outside and found him lying on the ground unconscious. The employee said at the time she didn't notice any body trauma or bruises and believed her boss fell and tripped.

On Saturday, the family of the man called police, saying the man's Honda Odyssey was missing from the parking lot.

On Thursday morning, officials located the vehicle driving carelessly in the parking lot at East Mecklenburg High School. The driver and passenger, later identified as 17-year-olds Jn-Marie and Laquan Burns, jumped out and ran from the van.

The two were caught, arrested and taken to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives.

Jn-Marie confessed to the robbery and to assaulting Yun at Ritz Cleaners, causing him to fall to the ground and be knocked unconscious, police say. While Yun was on the ground, Jn-Marie took the keys to his vehicle that were in his pocket, according to officials. He told police he returned later that night to take the Odyssey.

Jn-Marie is charged with common law robbery, assault inflicting serious injury, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, hit-and-run, and assist, obstruct and delay.

Burns was charged with resist, obstruct and delay. Investigators say he was not involved in the attack and robbery.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
