Loud music leads to chase with police and drug charges for Salisbury man

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

What was described as "extremely loud" music coming from a car led to one man's arrest last night, according to a Salisbury Police report.

An officer made a traffic stop on a car traveling on Chestnut Street in Salisbury just after 7:00 pm.  According to the report, there was very loud music coming from the car, and when the officer began talking to the driver, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

The driver, Andre Marese Brown, 33, of Chestnut Street, then took off running, according to the report.  The officer chased Brown for a short distance and noted that while he was running, Brown reached into his pants and removed a small bag that he then dropped on the ground.

Brown fell down while running and was arrested by the officer.  The bag turned out to contain 9.4 grams of crack cocaine.

Brown was charged with drug possession, resisting police, and was given a warning for playing loud music.  Bond was set at $20,000.
