Police chief to lead forum on trust between officers, community

CHARLOTTE, NC (Cleve R. Wootson Jr./The Charlotte Observer) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Rodney Monroe will lead a forum April 23 on building trust and respect between officers and the communities they patrol.

The event is sponsored by the YWCA of the Central Carolinas. Some participants will be able to take part in a simulator "designed to illustrate split-second decisions that police officers often must make."

The 90-minute event is free to attend and includes a light dinner, but space is limited. Registration is required. Details: www.ywcacentralcarolinas.org.
