Charlotte teen "Causing a Racket"

Charlotte, NC (WBTV)

Sophomore Hailey Simon at Ardrey Kell high school ranks 11th in the state by tennisrecruiting.net.

Earlier this year Hailey noticed there were several Charlotte-area communities that could not afford tennis rackets for their matches. That is how "Causing a Racket" came about. You can donate a racket to help those in need.

Hailey is an incredible person with and incredible story. She has fluctuating sensorineural hearing, and has about 50 percent hearing loss. It's why she started playing tennis at 4-years old, "being able to hear an opponent or teammate is very hard, which is why I had to find an individual sport to play", Simon also says this is why she found tennis, and individual sport.

"I was bullied for a little bit in school, but being able to play tennis, and be good, really helped my confidence level".

You can hear more from Hailey in the attached video.
