CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was ordered by a court to turn over Randall "Wes" Kerrick's complete personnel file.
Almost a year and a half after the incident, a Superior Court judge ordered CMPD to turn over the files including his any internal affairs files.
A Special Deputy Attorney General has been assigned to prosecute Kerrick for voluntary manslaughter.
The night of the shooting, a neighbor called 911, after mistakenly thinking that Ferrell was trying to break into her house in the overnight hours. Ferrell was unarmed and seeking help in a neighborhood after crashing his car.
Criminal defense attorneys for Kerrick also said they have been told a trial is not expected until the last half of 2015, according to the Attorney General's Office.
