Neighbor makes a apology for his "towering mistake"

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Mac Sechler of Serenity Hill Drive in Rowan County just couldn't figure out how and why someone would steal a 90 foot tall radio tower from his property, but it turned out there was a very simple explanation.

According to the report at the Rowan Sheriff's Office, Sechler called to report that the tower had disappeared from his property.

When deputies arrived to take a report on the theft of the tower, they were approached by neighbor Caleb Fox.

Fox told deputies that he had taken the tower, mistakenly thinking it was on his family's property and that it had been built by his grandfather.

According to the report, Fox told Sechler and the deputy that the tower was in pieces at a local salvage yard. Fox apologized and offered to pay Sechler for the value of the tower.

Sechler agreed, and the investigation was ended with Sechler withdrawing the report.
