The FBI is after a bank robber who held up the BB&T in Ballentyne. Fortunately, they have good video evidence - and so does WBTV.
"He doesn't have a mask or anything on," said CMPD Officer Tori Roddey.
He didn't have a disguise, but he showed a lot of moxie. He ambled in and immediately pulled out a handgun on the teller and demanded money.
"And the crazy thing is, Paul, he came in exactly at 12 o'clock and it has to be frightening for the customers and the people who work there," Officer Roddey said.
It was more than frightening. The expression on the face of one customer is nothing short of terror.
"When he came in, all he yelled out was, ‘give me the money, give me the money," Officer Roddey said. "She turned around to see this guy with a gun pointed at the teller and so, she falls out."
By fall out, he means she fell to the floor while he jumped the counter out of camera view.
"When he jumped across the desk, he was looking for any money he could find, but the teller, she ran, she ran just like the customers," Officer Roddey said.
While he's collecting cash, we see one customer grab her purse and run. Then, the dark-haired customer gets up from the floor and joins her in flight. Then, the heavyset robber tried to vault the counter again. He gets hung up briefly as he shows us his checkered boxer shorts.
"When he jumps back it looks like he struggles a bit because his pants are so far down?"
"It probably held him up from getting out of there so fast."
Note to all robbers - if you hit a bank, make sure to wear a belt.
Police aren't sure what he used as a getaway vehicle. They may be able to get some fingerprints since he wasn't wearing gloves.
