Man charged for pick up truck assault on gift card seller in Burger King parking lot

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

A man has now been charged with nearly running over another man who was trying to sell a gift card in the Burger King parking lot in January.

According to the report, Ernest Erdman was in the parking lot of the fast food restaurant on E. Innes Street trying to sell a Chick-Fil-A gift card to a man in a pick up truck. The driver grabbed the card from Erdman's hand, along with a $10 bill Erdman was holding.

Police say Erdman tried to grab the steering wheel, but as the man pulled away, Erdman was slung to the ground and suffered some minor injuries.

The driver was described as a white man with reddish brown hair. He was driving a gold Ford Ranger extended bed truck, according to the report Erdman gave police.

On Wednesday police arrested Garrett Seth Young, 21, of Maupin Avenue and charged him on misdemeanor counts of assault inflicting serious injury and larceny.

Young was jailed and later released on $1000 bond.
