LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Thirteen people were arrested and nearly $1 million of counterfeit items were confiscated after several agencies conducted an investigation at U.S. #1 Metro Flea Market in Lexington County over the weekend.

Deputies said in response to recurring sales of counterfeit items by flea market vendors, Lexington County Sheriff's Department investigators in cooperation with the South Carolina Secretary of State's Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted an inspection of vendor booths on Saturday.

Investigators arrested 13 people in connection with the sale of counterfeit items worth a combined total of $930,000 as well as $5,520 in cash.

Lexington County Sheriff Lewis McCarty said investigators will regularly inspect vendor booths at the U.S. #1 Metro Flea Market as long as counterfeit items continue to be sold by vendors at the flea market.

All 13 were charged with selling counterfeit merchandise and released on bond.
