Kent & Howard signing off? Station owner says not so

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

Earlier this week WBTV posted a story about Kent Bernhardt and Howard Platt ending their popular morning show on News Radio 1490 WSTP on Friday. Now the station owner is saying that may not be the case.

Majority owner Tim Coates of Rowan Media LLC told WBTV on Thursday that he told Kent and Howard that he had not "heard anything from the buyer," and that he instructed the duo to continue the show.

WSTP was thought to be under contract to be sold to the Catawba College Foundation and 2BProductions with Salisbury attorney Bill Graham. Attempts to contact Graham to find out the status of WSTP on Thursday were not successful.

The Catawba College web site does feature an article from August stating that WSTP was being purchased Catawba Foundation group.

Coates told WBTV that in the event that the sale does not happen, he is ready to continue the Kent & Howard Morning Show.
