SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

All the salt and brine that has been put on the roads is great for helping melt snow and ice, but it can be really bad for your car.

Roads and streets have been coated with salt, brine, and other chemicals several times in the last few weeks, and that can cause damage underneath your car.

There are rust issues, corrosion, flaking, and damage to the brake line, according to mechanics, and there's a pretty simple fix. You just need to get it washed once the storm has passed, and look for a car wash that has an undercarriage wash and rust inhibitor.

“Getting that salt and brine washed out from up underneath the underside of it is very important to keep that vehicles value up," said Glenn Allen, owner of Sam's Car Wash.

A car wash like Sam's has an undercarriage wash and rust inhibitor.  The experts say paying for a premium wash now could save money down the road.
