Man accused of repeatedly punching 14 year old in the face

LANDIS, NC (WBTV) - A man has been arrested for repeatedly punching 14 year-old relative in face, according to Landis Police.

Just before 5:00 pm on Thursday afternoon, Landis officers were called to a disturbance in the 200 block of Everhart Ave.

According to witnesses, Adam Childress, 40, had an argument with a 14 year-old relative, and that argument quickly turned violent.

The victim stated Childress punched him in the face several times while holding him down. Officers saw obvious signs of swelling and bruising on the victim's face.

Childress admitted that he had been drinking, and appeared to be highly intoxicated at the time of the incident, according to police.

Sgt. Young arrested Childress, who was charged with assault. Since the victim was a family member, Childress was ordered held without bond pending appearance before a judge, in accordance with NC law.
