Investigation underway after woman in nursing home claims her house was sold without her permission

CHINA GROVE, NC (WBTV) - A woman staying at Liberty Commons has told investigators with the Rowan Sheriff's Office that her home was sold without her permission.  Now there is an investigation underway involving sheriff's detectives and the Department of Social Services.

According to the report, the woman, 73, was notified by Medicaid that her Medicaid payments were being cut off because she no longer qualified for the program.  The woman discovered that Medicaid had learned that the woman's home on Fry Street in China Grove had been sold.

The woman told investigators that the home was sold by her power of attorney without her permission, and that she was not aware of the sale and did not receive any money from the sale.

No charges have been filed in the case and the investigation is continuing.
