CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Another Charlotte City Council member plans to enter the 2015 race for mayor.
At large member David Howard told WBTV that he intends to announce his candidacy at a later date.
Howard becomes the third citywide office holder to express an interest in the office of Charlotte Mayor.
Just one day before, Mayor Pro Tem Michael Barnes confirmed that he will enter the contest. Mayor Dan Clodfelter, who was appointed after the resignation of Patrick Cannon, has filed papers with the Board of Election to establish a campaign committee.
Last year, former Mecklenburg County Commission Chair Jennifer Roberts said that she is running for the office as well.
All four candidates are democrats.
The primary is set for September 15, and if a runoff election is needed the second primary is set for October 6.
The general election is scheduled for November 3.
