Hit and run over gift card transaction leaves man injured

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - A man was struck by a pick-up truck in the parking lot of Burger King on E. Innes Street on Monday, and police say the driver just took off.

According to the report, Ernest Erdman was in the parking lot of the fast food restaurant trying to sell a Chick-Fil-A gift card to a man in a pick up truck.  The driver grabbed the card from Erdman's hand, along with a $10 bill Erdman was holding.

Police say Erdman tried to grab the wheel, but as the man pulled away, Erdman was slung to the ground and suffered some minor injuries.

The driver is described as a white man with reddish brown hair.  He was driving a gold Ford Ranger extended bed truck, according to the report Erdman gave police.  That driver also struck another person's Dodge van in the Burger King lot as he was leaving.

The driver and truck were last seen heading towards the China Buffet restaurant.
