Family makes best of Christmas despite mother's murder

Hello and good morning to you. It's Friday, December 26. This is Christine Nelson sending you an email this morning to let you know the stories we're following right now. WBTV News This Morning is live now until 9 a.m. on WBTV and Bounce TV.

"It's unreal." That's the reaction from the family of Immogene Yongue, the 88-year-old Charlotte woman who police say was murdered by her own son. Today, William Yongue will be appearing before a judge for the first time to answer to the charges. WBTV's Mark Davenport is looking ahead to that appearance and has more reaction from the family.

A really sad update from an Amber Alert that was issued earlier this week in North Carolina. The two-year-old's father is now charged in the child's death.

Need help paying off your holiday shopping bills?? If you live in South Carolina, you may have some unclaimed money owed to you.

It's not the holiday clean-up many hit by tornadoes in the south expected. We'll show you some of the damage left behind after an EF 2 tornado touched down in Louisiana.

As always, stay through our 6 a.m. hour when we have NEW stories to report. And as you're preparing for the weekend, we'll have the most reliable look at your first alert weather forecast every 7 minutes.

See you on air!

Christine
