Two students reportedly got into a fight that injured several teachers at a Charlotte area high school Friday morning, a week after major fights happened at another Charlotte school.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg School police say the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. Friday at Independence High School.
CMS says it involved two students.
We are told 16-year-old Ricky Bennett and a juvenile got into a fight. Both students are charged with four counts of assault on a government official and one count of public affray.
Four teachers were injured while trying to break up the fight and had to go get medical treatment. WBTV was told one teacher was picked up and thrown to the floor.
Another teacher suffered a concussion and the other two are bruised and sore.
CMS says the two students will also be disciplined according to the student code of conduct.
Last week, at least ten students were arrested Friday after two fights happened at Harding High School in west Charlotte.
Sources told WBTV that the first fight happened just before lunchtime. One student was struck in the eye and needed medical attention. At least nine students were arrested after the fight, officials said.
The second fight happened later in the afternoon in the parking lot of the school. One student was arrested after that fight.
Harding was on lockdown for a portion of the day after the fight. Extra security was at the school Monday.
