Charlotte Air Traffic Controllers prepare for Santa's arrival

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It's the time of year where air traffic controllers at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport prepare to bring the jolly old elf himself into the city unscathed.

It's a tedious process that involves tracking the flight path of Santa's sleigh and all 9 of his reindeer. "He has to file a flight plan just like all the other aircraft," said Tyler Height, who helps track and guide Santa's arrival each year.

While the big guy hasn't quite made his way to the Queen City just yet, we were allowed exclusive access to his arrival last year. For a bird's eye view of Santa making his way into Charlotte, check out the video.
