Greg Edds elected as chairman of Rowan County Commission

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Salisbury insurance agent Greg Edds has been elected as chairman of the Rowan County Commission, receiving 4 of 5 votes on Monday.

Edds was just elected to the commission in November, coming in second in the vote totals to newcomer Jim Greene.

"I am honored and humbled to be representing the county as Chairman of our County Commissions during such a pivotal time in our history," Edds told WBTV.  Vice Chairman Greene and Commissioner Klusman are talented members of Rowan County's new leadership who promise to aggressively address our county's most challenging issues.  We look forward to joining with Commissioners Pierce and Caskey as we work toward making Rowan County the envy of our region."

On Monday commissioner Mike Caskey nominated Edds for the top spot, while commissioner Craig Pierce nominated Greene.  Greene was elected as the board's vice chairman.

Edds is the former chairman of the Rowan County Republican Party.
