Shooting Overnight On Florida State Campus; SC Same Sex Marriage

 BREAKING NEWS:  Police in Tallahassee, Florida say three students have been wounded, and a gunman killed, in a shooting on the campus of Florida State University.  It happened overnight and limited details are available at this moment.  Our Kristen Miranda is in the Alert Center, monitoring new information as it comes in and will bring it to us during WBTV News This Morning.

Our Ashton Pellom will be LIVE this morning with a major story out of South Carolina.  Couples can officially apply for same-sex marriage licenses in South Carolina today.  On Tuesday, a judge ruled that South Carolina must recognize the marriage of a same-sex couple performed in Washington, D.C.  The South Carolina Supreme Court had told probate judges not to issue any marriage licenses until there was a decision in that case.


25-hundred Charlotte Mecklenburg School students will go to new schools next year.  The school board approved reassignment plans last night.  We'll be LIVE with complete details on the board's decision.


This morning, a local community is coming to grips with the loss of a well-known sheriff's deputy in Union County.  54-year old Sergeant Jeffrey Greene died after a tractor-trailer crashed on top of his patrol car along US Highway 74 and Sutherland Avenue in Monroe.  Our Mark Davenport will be LIVE with more details.


Angelo Grayson Smith Junior is scheduled to appear in Mecklenburg County Superior Court this morning. Smith is the former boyfriend of Bianca Tanner and is accused of her murder.


A federal judge will hear arguments today on sectarian prayers before meetings of the Forsyth County commissioners.  The county's lawyers will tell Judge James Beaty he should drop a 2010 order that banned commissioners from having clergy deliver pre-meeting prayers that refer to Jesus Christ or other deities.


It's a big day for skiers in North Carolina!  Appalachian Ski Resort is opening today...and operators there say they have never had so much snow for opening day!  Also...the new million dollar Gunther's Way slope opens at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort today...it's the first new slope at a NC ski resort since anyone can remember.  By the way, Beech Mountain Ski Resort says it hopes to open Thanksgiving weekend.


NBA action:  Solomon Hill put back a miss by Rodney Stuckey as time expired, and the Indiana Pacers overcame an early 18-point deficit to beat the Charlotte Hornets 88-86 last night.
