SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - A Salisbury woman was charged with assault on a child after an incident at a bus stop, according to police.
Lisa Celeste Linkins, 29, was charged on Wednesday after turning herself in at the police department. Police say the incident happened at a bus stop as a 7-year-old boy and other children were waiting on the school bus.
According to the report, the child and others at the bus stop were arguing when Linkins approached the child and punched him in the nose. The injury caused the child's nose to bleed. He went to school with a bloody nose and reported what had happened. The Department of Social Services contacted police.
It is not clear from the report how Linkins is related to the child.
Linkins was charged and released under $1000 bond.
Tragically, Linkins lost her son, Logan, in a house fire in April of last year. Linkins, her father, two children, and one other person were able to escape the fire. A Salisbury police officer, who was one of the first to arrive at the fire, did manage to go inside and get the child, but the child was dead.
