Winners and losers

Good morning, it's Christine Nelson! It's Wednesday, November 5. What a whirlwind night of elections! We have all the post-election highlights for you, including results, right now on WBTV News This Morning. That's not the only news happening though. As we have been telling you, the eyes of the nation are on the Kay Hagan/Thom Tillis race for U.S. Senate. With Tillis being the top vote-getter, that led to the Republicans taking control of the Senate. We interviewed Tillis, hear his reaction now that he is heading to Washington, D.C. We'll also hear from Hagan who conceded while you were sleeping, just before midnight. Look for these stories too: Did Mecklenburg County voters approve or reject the sales tax hike to pay for teacher raises? What did voters decide on the three separate bond referendums?

Don't worry South Carolina, we're not leaving you out of this. We're highlighting the big races in the Palmetto state. One candidate, in particular, is making history after his election win.

BREAKING OVERNIGHT: We are working to bring you more details about the death of a city councilman from South Carolina.
Chester city councilman Odell Williams was shot and killed last night. WBTV's Ashton Pellom will be reporting live from what still is an active scene.

See you on the air!
