House Fires Overnight; Winter Storm Watch

We have details on two area house fires that happened while you were sleeping...one in Davidson and one in Gaston County.  No injuries to report, but significant damage to the homes.  We'll be LIVE with complete details.


A sold out crowd saw the Charlotte Hornets play their first game of the season...and sure got their money's worth!  The game against the Milwaukee Bucks went into overtime and was won on a last second basket.  Now under their new name...the Hornets get their first win, 108 - 106!  We are LIVE with fan reaction.


And it's going to be another big sports night in Charlotte as the Carolina Panthers take on the New Orleans Saints in NFL action at Bank of America stadium.  At stake in tonight's nationally broadcast game:  sole possession of first place in the NFC South.

Plus another major sports story!  South Caldwell High school alum Madison Bumgarner has led the San Francisco Giants to win the World Series. The lefty pitched five scoreless innings in a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals, in Kansas City last night. It's the Giants' third title in five years.  Bumgarner was named the series MVP!

Scientists on Hawaii's Big Island are continuing to monitor lava flow from the Kilauea volcano, which is approaching homes in the village of Pahoa. The lava flow is threatening to consume its first home, which is about 100 feet away. 


State police in Maine plan to monitor the movements and interactions of a nurse who's promising to defy the state's quarantine for health care workers who treat Ebola patients. State officials want nurse Kaci Hickox to remain in voluntary quarantine until Nov. 10, when the 21-day incubation for her last possible exposure to Ebola ends.
