Growing concerns over Ebola in America are triggering new screenings at airports nationwide. At this point, Charlotte Douglas International airport is not included in those airports. Many people are arguing there should be a total ban on people traveling to the U.S. from West Africa. We talk to a Liberian man who graduated from UNC Charlotte...who says a ban is not the answer.
South Carolina lawmakers want to make sure the state is prepared to deal with Ebola. The State Senate Medical Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet in Columbia today to discuss whether the state is ready to handle a patient who may arrive in the state suffering from the disease.
Same-day registration and out-of-precinct voting won't be allowed in North Carolina for next month's election. The U.S. Supreme Court has blocked a federal appeals court ruling from taking effect that set aside parts of the 2013 election law approved by state lawmakers. We have local reaction.
Will today be the day that same-sex couples can legally be married in North Carolina? A federal judge has lifted stays in two cases challenging the state's ban on same-sex marriages. The move came after the office of North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper filed documents with the court essentially dropping all further defense of the 2012 ban approved by voters.
