Woman struck and killed by car while crossing Statesville Boulevard

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

A woman was struck and killed by a car early Monday night while trying to cross Statesville Boulevard near Lash Drive, according to Salisbury Police.

The woman, now identified as Kimberly Regina Allen, was walking across Statesville Boulevard from the Kangaroo convenience store to go back to her home at Lakewood Apartments when she was hit by a station wagon.  

Investigators say Allen stepped off the curb and directly into the path of the oncoming car.

The accident happened around 7:40 pm.

Allen was taken to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center and was pronounced dead.

The driver of the 1996 Chevrolet station wagon, David Bowyer, will not be charged, according to police.
