WEATHER ALERT: Flooding and tree down reports

Good morning! It's Christine Nelson, doing my regular check-in to give you a first look at the stories you'll see when you turn on WBTV News This Morning. We're live from 4:30-9:00 a.m. on WBTV and Bounce TV!

***WEATHER ALERT*** Boy it has been an eventful overnight when it comes to weather. In Mecklenburg, Union and some South Carolina counties including Lancaster County the sky opened up! Union County seems the hardest hit. Here are some reports we're hearing right now:

Union County - Flash flooding at Howie Street between Anne Avenue and Jerry Lane.

Union County - Tree down 9200 Olive Branch Road

We are on your side with the most reliable look at where the heavy rainfall is at this hour. Meteorologist Ashley Batey is tracking the storm's movement. She'll pinpoint what's happening in your neighborhood.

#BREAKING NEWS **TRAFFIC ALERT** Three construction workers have been hit while working on I-40 in Burke County. We just got word from the highway patrol the westbound lanes near exit 105 will be closed for at least two more hours. We have Mark Davenport at the scene to get us more details on what happened.

#BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Voters in Scotland have rejected independence from the United Kingdom in a historic vote that resulted with unprecedented turnout. We first told you about it in the #AlertCenter. Kristen Miranda is following this now.

Plus. A Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools volunteer coach is fired after officials say he broke school rules by sending text messages to players on his volleyball team.

See you on the air!

Christine
