Seven months later, still no arrest in murder of 82-year-old woman

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

On February 4 Charlotte Mecklenburg Police combed a south Charlotte community looking for clues and talking to neighbors - as detectives worked to get to solve the murder of Ina Feldman.

The 82-year-old woman's son found her body inside her townhouse.

Investigators said she was beaten and strangled.

Seven months later - on September 4 - neighbors said they still think about the case.

"You wonder what's going on in the investigation" neighbor, Mr. Brown said. "What happened in a quiet neighborhood has never happened out here before. Initially there was a lot of concern."

Police say it's still an active investigation.
Detectives have not released information about what they suspect happened back in February.
Neighbors don't know if it was a random crime or if Ina Feldman died at the hands of someone she knew.

"I would like for the perpetrator to be caught" another neighbor told WBTV.

The neighborhood, off Carmel Road, has many older residents. Some refused to talk about the case. Others said the community "got back to normal pretty quickly."

There's now a for sale sign outside the townhouse where Ina Feldman lived.
