Deputies: 2 Dead, one injured after murder/suicide in Alexander Co

ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Two people are dead and a third person injured after a reported murder/suicide in Alexander County, according to deputies.

The incident happened Thursday just before 7:30 p.m. at a home on Chestnut Hunting Lodge Road, off of Dover Church Road. This is west of Taylorsville near the Caldwell County line.

Officials that at 7:21 p.m. a woman called 911 and said that she and two other people at the home had been shot.

When officers arrived at the home, they found Mary Darlene Tarlton at the home. They say she was alert, but was suffering from a gunshot wound to the facial area.

The officers also found 32-year-old Jonathan Wayne Thompson and 34-year-old Brandy Nicole Thompson outside the home. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives say that based on the initial investigation, they believe Jonathan Thompson was the only shooter.

Deputies also said that a four-month-old child was at the scene at the time of the shootings. They say that the infant was unharmed.

Tarlton was rushed from the scene to Frye Regional Medical Center. She was then transferred to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for surgery. Her current condition has not been released.

The Alexander County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
