Spartanburg County assesses cultural assets

Posted: Updated:

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Spartanburg County is winding up a six-week effort to assess the cultural resources in the county.

The Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg has been leading the effort through a series of public meetings that have been held since July. The final two meetings are being held Thursday at the cultural center, one in the morning and one in the evening.

The program, called Culture Counts, is working to locate all those involved in cultural activities as well as assessing assets ranging from galley and exhibit spaces to such things as performing art venues and museums.

The survey is being taken as a first step in developing a countywide arts plan.
