Man charged in Civic Park shooting

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Police have made an arrest in the shooting of a man who was sitting in his truck outside of Civic Park Apartments.

The incident happened on August 18.  Police say Curtis Blackwell was in his truck when someone came by and fired four shots through the truck door.

Blackwell was hit in the stomach by one of the shots.   He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist medical Center where he was treated and eventually released.

On Tuesday police charged William A. Cole, Jr., 31, of Old Plank Road with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.

Cole is being held under $250,000.

The motive for the shooting is not clear, according to investigators.
